Sean Mcweeny

Biography:

Sean completed his undergraduate degree at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, majoring in psychology and music, before moving to Chicago to complete a PhD in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Northwestern University. His research interests include auditory attention, early detection of communication disorders (e.g., dyslexia, hearing loss), behavioral and neural synchrony, and the role of music in social contexts. His research is supported by advanced coursework in systems neuroscience and statistics, with a particular interest in meta-science that led to the creation of a citation-network-based literature searching app called SnowGlobe (snowglobe.soc.northwestern.edu). Outside of work, Sean likes to bike, write and play music, and spend time with his wife and dog. In 2013, he biked from North Carolina to San Diego with Bike and Build, a charity organization that partners with local affordable housing organizations to provide them with funding and volunteer labor.
