Monkeying around: supplement material

1. Example of the stimuli used for testing human (voice pair 2) and rhesus monkey (voice pair 2) voice discrimination (Friendly et al., submitted). In each, you will hear four vocalizations: three belonging to one individual and one belonging to a second individual. Can you tell when the voice changes from individual 1 to individual 2? (Answer: the human change is the 4th voice, the monkey change is the 3rd voice).

2. An excerpt from the storybook "Beach Day for the Monkey Family", and the narration, used to train infants on monkey-voice discrimination (Friendly, Rendall & Trainor, submitted). The vocalizations are "coo" calls made by four individual female rhesus monkeys.
